Opening day of Fair, security runs smoothly

So far, security is running smoothly at the Minnesota State Fair.

Earlier this month, fair officials announced changes to security with screenings at all 11 entrances, which includes bag searches by 100 new security staffers.

The bag check process that happens didn't appear to be slowing things down as fairgoers expected it might.

The first day is usually appealing for smaller crowds, but by midday the crowds looked pretty healthy as many people were lured out by near perfect weather.

Also on Machinery Hill, the new third location of Sweet Martha's cookies, visitors enjoyed a shorter line.
