Motorcyclist dead after chase, crash in St. Paul

A motorcyclist is dead after attempting to flee police and crashing near the intersection of Case Avenue East and Clark Street in St. Paul overnight.

According to St. Paul police, an officer on patrol spotted a motorcyclist driving recklessly on Maryland Avenue at 2 a.m. Monday morning. The officer activated his emergency lights, but the motorcycle turned south onto Arkwright Street and sped away.

Officers searched the area and found the motorcycle had crashed at Case and Clark. The motorcyclist had been thrown from the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the crash and whether drugs or alcohol were factors. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s office will identify the motorcyclist.
