MN weather: Snowy roads lead to 137 crashes, 1 fatality on Monday
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Overnight and morning snow in Minnesota has led to numerous crashes on roadways in the Twin Cities and across the state on Monday.

By the numbers:
The Minnesota State Patrol reported between midnight and 8 a.m. there have been 83 property damage crashes, four injury crashes, one fatality, 21 vehicles off the road, five vehicle spin outs and one jackknifed semi.
From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., there were an additional 54 property damage crashes, 10 injury crashes, 24 vehicles off the road, and one spinout, according to the State Patrol.

The State Patrol said one person died Monday morning due to a collision. The crash happened just after 6:30 a.m. in the area of westbound Interstate 494 and Highway 169 in Bloomington. The driver of a Chevy Impala was in the right lane of traffic when she lost control, spun and slid across the roadway, and was struck by a semi-truck driver in the left lane.
The driver was identified as a 45-year-old woman from Shakopee. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The 76-year-old truck driver was not injured in the collision.
Meanwhile, a Minnesota State Trooper squad car was hit while responding to a crash just before 7:10 a.m. on Highway 55 in Inver Grove Heights. There were no injuries reported, but the incident remains under investigation, according to State Patrol Lt. Mike Lee.
In Wright County, a two-vehicle collision on eastbound I-94 near the Silver Creek exit slowed traffic on Monday morning. Officials posted about the incident on social media, reminding drivers to use extra caution when traveling because of the slippery road conditions.

There is a belt of winter weather advisories stretching from the Dakotas, through central Minnesota, into central Wisconsin. The advisories are in effect from Sunday night until Monday at noon.

The snow is expected to wrap up in the late morning, and while there won't be a major snowfall, those on the northern side of the metro will see around an inch or 2 of snow. For the south metro, the snowfall will be lighter with only a thicker coating. Regions just north of the metro could see around 2-4 inches of snow.

Once the snow clears, the clouds will linger for an overcast and chilly day on Monday. The Twin Cities metro daytime high is 25 degrees, though winds at 10-15 mph could make it feel in the single digits. Northern Minnesota will see much cooler temperatures in the teens and single digits.
Temperatures will fall overnight with subzero lows across much of Minnesota, although the metro will likely stay slightly above zero.
