MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The Metropolitan Council is recommending a 25-cent fare increase for public transportation.
The change would impact the light rail, buses and Northstar trains. The council is also looking to up prices for Metro Mobility services by 50 cents.
The fare increase is seen as a way to deal with a looming $100 million budget deficit.
Metro transit hasn't increased fares since 2008. The full council is expected to decide whether or not to approve the fare hike on Wednesday. If it passes, the increase would go into effect in October.
