Early morning shooting leaves 2 dead in St. Paul, Minnesota

Two people are dead after a shooting early Thursday morning in St. Paul, Minnesota. 

The shooting occurred around 3:35 a.m. at the intersection of Payne Avenue and North Street East, according to St. Paul Police Department spokesperson Steve Linders. 

Linders said several people called 911 reporting a "volley" of gunshots in the area. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

St. Paul Fire medics arrived and transported both victims to Regions Hospital. One of them died shortly after arriving at the hospital, while the other died two hours later. 

At least three people were involved in the incident, Linders said. No arrests have been made. 

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650. 

This are the second and third homicides in St. Paul in 2021.
