Chaska authorities search for teen who escaped custody

CHASKA, Minn. (FOX 9) - Chaska police say a juvenile escaped law enforcement custody on Sunday morning.

What they're saying:
The Chaska Police Department reported that a 17-year-old boy escaped from custody just before 8:30 a.m. near the Carver County Government Center.
The juvenile is described as a 5-foot-8-inch tall Black male weighing about 140 lbs who was wearing a black jacket, blue pajama pants and no shoes. Police are asking the public to call 911 if anyone sees someone matching the description.
A Blue Earth County Sheriff's Deputy was reportedly taking the teen to the Carver County Juvenile Detention Center before he escaped.
Police say drones, K9 units and a Minnesota State Patrol plane assisted in the search.

Authorities shared an update at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday saying they were maintaining a large police presence in downtown Chaska and Carver as they continue to search for the escaped juvenile.
The Chaska Police Department is also asking the public to check their garages or sheds for any signs of the escaped teen.
Another update came at 1:40 p.m., with Chaska police saying the teen was not located and there is no threat to the public.
