A Minnesota man died while snorkeling in the Florida Keys last Friday.

Michael John McCormick, 71, of Slayton was snorkeling with a family member off Geiger Key Friday afternoon when the two became separated in the water, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. The family member called 911 once he could not find McCormick in the water.

A boater picked up both McCormick and the family member and brought them both back to the marina. Paramedics performed CPR on McCormick, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No foul play is suspected. A medical examiner is performing an autopsy on McCormick's body to determine the official cause of death.
