Slick roads cause over 100 crashes, spin outs Friday morning

Roads were slick across much of Minnesota Friday morning, resulting in hundreds of crashes and spin outs statewide.

As temperatures dropped overnight Thursday, the rain and freezing drizzle that fell turned to ice on the roads in the Twin Cities metro, creating some hazardous driving conditions. In greater Minnesota, roads were snow covered and blowing snow reduced visibility.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported there were 103 crashes, 12 with injuries, between 9:30 p.m. Thursday and 11:45 a.m. Friday. There were also 209 spin outs and eight jackknifed semis.
