Minnesota residents woke up to a cool Sunday morning that felt like autumn in August.

Comfortable sunshine continues on Sunday with a slight breeze to keep temperatures cool.

Saturday will be cool, comfortable and breezy with a dry forecast ahead.

The setup will also translate into no hurricane concerns for the continental United States for the foreseeable future, as developing cyclones will turn away from North America into the open Atlantic.

Hurricane Erin’s core missed the U.S., but the cyclone led to flooded roadways and eroded dunes. Coastal flooding was reported in North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York.

Fairgoers may want to keep rain gear handy on Friday as hit-or-miss rumbles are possible late morning into the afternoon.

The new protections come after the devastating July Fourth floods in the Texas Hill Country that claimed the lives of dozens of young campers.

Thousands of people were evacuated off parts of North Carolina's Outer Banks amid the threat of a storm surge. Meanwhile, beaches remained off limits along the East Coast as dangerous waves and rip currents slammed shorelines.

The Minnesota State Fair opens Thursday with sunshine, warmth and lingering humidity, though a much cooler weekend is ahead.

Hurricane Erin remains a powerful Category 2 hurricane with winds of 110 mph. However, the National Hurricane Center said additional strengthening is likely over the next day or so, and Erin could become a major hurricane (Category 3 or higher) by Wednesday night.

Wednesday will be bright, warm and still somewhat humid across Minnesota.
