Zimmer: Everson Griffen absent from stadium Sunday due to 'personal reasons'

In a press conference following the Vikings 27-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills, head coach Mike Zimmer took a moment to address the absence of defensive end Everson Griffen who, while injured, was not on the sidelines Sunday.

"He's having a personal matter and we'll leave it at that," Coach Zimmer said.

"We are aware of the situation involving Everson Griffen and certainly concerned by what we have heard," said Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman in a statement. "We are currently focused on Everson's well-being and providing the appropriate support for him and his family."

The Vikings could have used the three-time Pro Bowler as the defense went on to give up 292 yards of offense and two rushing touchdowns to rookie quarterback Josh Allen.
