Vikings DE Danielle Hunter named NFC Defensive Player of Week

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week following the team’s win over the Detroit Lions Sunday, where they set a new franchise record with 10 sacks. 

Hunter, 24, had 3.5 of those 10 sacks—a new career-high. He now leads the NFL with 11.5 sacks this season. 

The fourth-year pro also added nine tackles, three tackles for loss, four quarterback pressures and one fumble recovery that h returned 32 yards for a game-sealing touchdown in the 4th quarter. 

The Vikings beat the Lions 24-9. 

This is the first NFC Player of the Week award for Hunter and the eighth by a Vikings defensive player under head coach Mike Zimmer.
