Minnesota United beats Chicago in home opener

More than 23,000 fans packed into the TCF Bank Stadium for the 2018 Minnesota United home opener.

The sell-out crowd was on hand to watch Loons kick off its second season in major league soccer. Fans said Minnesota United games are different than other sporting events—the tight knit bond among the fan base is unlike any other.

“It’s a community,” said Minnesota United fan, Nick Ross. “When you find another Minnesota United fan, you definitely bond over that and if I see a car with a Minnesota United sticker, I’m probably going to say ‘hi’ to them.”

Minnesota hosted Chicago Saturday. The team didn’t score any goals in the first half, but turned things around in the second half. United fans went home happy after the team beat Chicago, 2-1.

The Loons have won two of their first three matches in the 2018 season.
