Minnesota Twins announce streaming TV plans for 2025 season
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The Minnesota Twins held a media luncheon on Friday ahead of TwinsFest at Target Field.
Twins President Dave St. Peter, who will be in that role until Opening Day, announced the team’s plans to stream games for the 2025 season. In partnership with Major League Baseball’s production and MLB Media, Twins.TV will debut Feb. 11 with Grapefruit League spring training play in Fort Myers, Fla. Fans can preview the service with five spring training games for free.
Consumers get a full season subscription for $99.99, or can do a monthly pass for $19.99. Twins season-ticket holders can get the full season for 50 percent off. Most importantly, there won't be any games blacked out in Minnesota, western Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota or Iowa. St. Peter said Twins' games will be able to reach 4.4 million homes, a 307 percent increase from last season.
"Twins’ fans will be able to watch our games where, when and how they choose on linear television or digital stream with no blackouts," St. Peter said.
The San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks have similar streaming plans for the 2025 season. Twins officials say plans to make Twins.TV available via cable and satellite providers are still in the works.
Continued patience with ownership transition
What we know: After last season, the Pohlad family announced they were entertaining putting the Twins up for sale. They’ve since had multiple buyers show interest. St. Peter said Friday it’s an ongoing process, and there is no timetable for when it could be official.
What we don’t know: Who the buyers will be, if the Pohlad family will still have a stake in the organization and when that transition will take place.
The Twins are looking to bounce back from having a double-digit lead for an American League Wild Card spot last season, before finishing 12-27 and missing the playoffs.
Corey Koskie headed to Twins Hall of Fame
Why it matters: The Twins announced Friday that former third baseman Corey Koskie is the team’s 2025 inductee for the Twins Hall of Fame. Koskie will be the 41st member and will be inducted at a ceremony Aug. 17 at Target Field. Koskie was chosen by a 70-member panel featuring regional media, living hall of fame members, team historians and select Twins' executives.
Koskie played with the Twins from 1998-2004, and helped the Twins win three division titles. In seven seasons with the Twins, he hit .280 with 101 home runs, 180 doubles, stole 66 bases and had 437 RBI and scored 438 runs. He's one of seven Twins to hit at least 100 homers, record 400 RBI and score 400 runs – the others are Kent Hrbek, Justin Morneau, Harmon Killebrew, Kirby Puckett, Tony Oliva and Joe Mauer. He's the Twins' all-time leader at third base in both batting average and fielding percentage.
The Twins will soon embark for Spring Training, with the team’s equipment truck leaving for Florida on Feb. 1.
