The Gophers are the Big Ten regular season softball champs and ready for postseason action, flying in with top seed in the tournament and ranked second in the country.

In addition to all that, they swept the individual conference awards.

Jessica Allister is Coach of the Year, Kendyl Lindaman is the Big Ten Player and Freshman of the Year and senior pitcher Sara Groenewegen is Pitcher of the Year.

Groenewegen has a dominant 27-2 record, 0.60 ERA and 356 strikeouts. She also tossed a no hitter against Purdue, the seventh of her career.

She does all of this while battling diabetes and finishing off her finals.

Groenewegen also may play professional softball. She was drafted second overall by Akron Racers in Ohio, but her main focus is extending the Gophers’ current 22 game winning streak starting this weekend in Michigan.
