Brooklyn Center police confirmed they arrested a suspect for stealing a woman’s purse from a laundromat while she was receiving medical attention.

On Oct. 13 at 2:20 p.m., police said they responded to a medical call at the laundromat in the 5800 block of Xerxes Avenue, and the suspect had taken her purse while the woman was “incapacitated,” and the suspect fled but was captured on surveillance video. The woman was brought to an area hospital, was released that night and died the following day.

The victim's daughter had posted about the theft on Facebook, asking the thief to return at least her mother's cell phone because it contained several irreplaceable family photos.

A suspect matching the description was apprehended at his home in Brooklyn Park. Police recovered the victim's cell phone during the arrest and returned it to her family.
