State troopers rescued a peacock stranded on Interstate 494 in Bloomington, Minnesota Tuesday.

The peacock was sitting on the fog line, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Troopers devised a plan to sneak up behind the bird and cover it with a blanket then put it in the back of one of their squad car. It took several tries before they were successful in getting the bird into the squad car.

A Bloomington Police Department officer arrived and took the peacock, that suffered facial injuries, to Bloomington Animal Control, where it remained for several hours before the owners were eventually located.

Deputy Chief Mike Hartley said the peacock belonged to the Griffin Fine Art Gallery, whose owners may not have realized it was missing.
