Sheriff: Burned man found dead in field in rural Stearns County
BROCKWAY TOWNSHIP, Minn. (FOX 9) - The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man found burned in a field outside of the St. Cloud, Minnesota area Monday.
The victim, identified as Edwin Opatz, 86, of Rice, was found in a field on the 10600 block of River Street in the Brockway Township shortly after 3 p.m. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy on his remains.
The sheriff's office said Opatz had been burning grass pastureland earlier that day.
His death remains under investigation.
