Repairs on France Avenue bridge over Hwy 62 begin Friday

On April 12, crews will begin repairing the France Avenue bridge over Highway 62 in Edina, Minnesota. The plan is weather-permitting, of course, considering the current Storm Watch.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the work consists of repairing the France Avenue bridge, pavement resurfacing, replacing the signal system, safety improvements at France Ave. and Hwy 62, lengthening the acceleration lane on ramp to eastbound Hwy 62, and making sidewalk and accessibility improvements along the France Ave. bridge.

In preparation, crews will close Hwy 62 between I-35W and Hwy 100 starting at 10 p.m. Friday, April 12 through 5 a.m. Monday, April 15. The detour will be I-494.

The ramp from France Ave. to westbound Hwy 62 will also be closed starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 10.

France Avenue between 62nd Street and 66th St and the ramps to/from eastbound and westbound Highway 62 and France Avenue will also close starting 8 p.m. Friday, April 12. Drivers are advised to follow the detour to bypass the France Avenue the closure:

•    Northbound France Avenue from Highway 62 -- Xerxes Avenue to 60th Street.
•    Southbound France Avenue from eastbound Highway 62 -- Valley View Road to France Avenue.
•    Southbound France from westbound Highway 62 -- Xerxes to 66th to France Avenue.

The project is expected to be complete in early August 2019.
