Record setting rainy week

No need for semantics here, it’s been a ridiculously wet week.  The Twin Cities has seen more rain in the last week than we average in the entire month of May.  Over 4 inches has fallen through the course of the week and now our rainfall total for the month is approaching 5 inches… that’s about an inch and a half above normal with another 10 days to go.  While the truly heavy rain stayed just southeast of the metro (localized spots from Red Wing to La Crosse experienced over 8 inches of rain) 2 daily rainfall records were set at MSP Airport; one on Wednesday with just shy of 2 inches of rain and the other on Saturday with the total just under an inch and a half.  Thankfully the heaviest and most widespread rain is behind us for the time being, but showers and isolated thunderstorms are still possible through the early part of the workweek which could add another half inch to totals in spots.
