Police: Suspects commit four armed robberies, crash stolen vehicle into squad car

Police say a group of men committed four armed robberies Wednesday evening in Apple Valley before crashing their vehicle into a police squad car.

Just before 5 p.m., Apple Valley officers responded to a parking lot of a business near Cedar Avenue for an armed robbery by two male suspects, who fled before officers arrived.

Just after 6 p.m., another armed robbery in which the subject was robbed at gun point was reported to Eagan police. At 6:35 p.m., another armed robbery was reported by Burnsville Police and at 6:39 p.m. a fourth armed robbery was reported to Apple Valley Police once again.

Officers were checking the area where the last robbery occurred when they saw the suspect vehicle parked in a lot.

Police then drove towards the vehicle, but the driver fled at a “high rate of speed” according to Apple Valley Police Captain Nick Francis.

The vehicle collided with an Apple Valley squad car and minor injuries were sustained.

Two adult males and one juvenile male were taken into custody and it was discovered that their vehicle had been stolen in Minneapolis earlier in the day.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
