Polar Plunge: Hundreds jump for good cause

Hundreds of people lined up in White Bear Lake Saturday morning to dive into icy waters for the first Polar Plunge event of the season.

People have returned year after year to jump into the icy water because of the cause the Polar Plunge supports. All funds raised go toward programming and events for more than 8,200 Special Olympic athletes statewide.

Many participated in the event without plunging by registering as a “Too Chicken Plunger.” They were still able to participate with their teams by throwing plastic chickens into the water, instead of plunging.

The next Polar Plunge will be at Super Bowl LIVE on January 30.
