Pilot dead after ultralight aircraft crashes shortly after take-off

One person is dead after an ultralight airplane crash in Rush City. Rush City is about an hour from the Twin Cities.

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened shortly after take-off at the Rush City Airport Sunday morning.

The 58-year-old male pilot was the only one on board and was found dead on the scene. His name has not been released.

The Midwest Medical examiner’s office and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.

An ultralight aircraft is much lighter and smaller than a typical plane, they usually only have one or two seats.
