Pedestrian dies after crash in Columbia Heights, Minn.

A pedestrian who was struck by a car in Columbia Heights, Minnesota last Saturday has died from his injuries. 

Erik Johnstone, 48, of Fridley died Thursday, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office said. 

The crash occurred approximately 6:51 p.m. at the intersection of University Avenue and 40th Avenue Northeast. A preliminary investigation determined Johnstone stepped into oncoming traffic at the intersection and was hit. 

The driver, a 21-year-old Chaska woman showed no signs of impairment and cooperated with the investigation. 

Johnstone was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, where he later died. 

The incident remains under investigation.
