Mortimer's holding series of benefit concerts for shot musician

The Twin Cities music community is rallying behind a Minneapolis musician who was shot during an armed robbery last month.

Mortimer’s is holding a series of benefit concerts to help Aaron “Hix” Lee with his recovery and medical bills. Every Wednesday in November, the venue will be collecting $10 donations at the door for “Hix Benefit Month.”

Hix performs in the band, The Red Daughters. In October, Hix was shot in the abdomen just before he was set to play at 331 Club in northeast Minneapolis. He was walking with his girlfriend, when a suspect demanded them to hand over their wallets and phones. After doing so, the man shot Hix. Two people have been charged in connection to the crime.

The bullet nicked Hix’s colon and is still lodged in his leg. He's facing nearly $100,000 in medical bills.
