Minnesota, Wisconsin school closings for Jan. 21, 2025
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - With the extreme cold on Tuesday morning, many school districts in Minnesota and western Wisconsin have decided to cancel or delay classes for Tuesday.

It's a frigid start to the day, with temperatures in the teens below zero. However, it will warm back above zero degrees by the afternoon. A clipper system moving through the area could bring a few snowflakes in the evening. FOX 9 meteorologist Cody Matz has your forecast.
Across Minnesota and western Wisconsin, temperatures dropped to what could be the coldest temps this winter.
An extreme cold warning is in effect for the entire region until at least 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
For the region, air temperatures will fall to 15 to 20 degrees below zero while windchill temps will be in the 30 to 50 degrees below zero range. It's one of the coldest mornings in the Twin Cities within the past couple of years as temperatures dipped to minus 19 degrees.
School closures due to cold
In the Twin Cities metro, Minneapolis, St. Paul and Anoka-Hennepin have announced they will be closed on Tuesday due to the cold.
Dozens of others across Minnesota and western Wisconsin have announced late starts, closures, or e-learning days.
