Minnesota weather: Several inches of snow across the state Saturday morning

After a quiet early-morning start, most of the metro area saw an accumulation of fluffy snow that continued to fall at a steady pace on Saturday morning.

The southern parts of the metro are seeing significantly less snow than the northern parts.

Minnesota road conditions

As of about 9 p.m. on Saturday, almost all the roads in the Twin Cities metro have been cleared, according to live updates from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). 

By the numbers:

There were hundreds of crashes across the state due to the snow storm. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, there have been 267 property damage crashes, 21 injury crashes, 142 vehicles off-road, 30 spin outs, and 1 jackknifed semi, as of 7:45 p.m.

What's next:

Temperatures are expected to drop tonight, with some areas reaching below zero. The night will be calm with some wind, with the sun coming back on Sunday. 

Clouds will increase Sunday afternoon, but should be generally quiet, with temperatures popping back up into the low 20s. 

The week ahead is expected to be very cold, with temperatures dipping to the teens Monday and single digits Tuesday.
