Minnesota, Pennsylvania governors make Tastykake-Nut Roll bet on Vikings-Eagles

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton and Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf have set their friendly wager over this weekend’s NFC Championship Game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles. If when the Vikings beat the Eagles, Gov. Dayton will send a five-pound version of the Minnesota favorite Pearson's Salted Nut Roll to Gov. Wolf.

If the Eagles win, Gov. Wold will send five pounds of Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets to St. Paul.

“Congratulations to the Minnesota Vikings on their sensational win last Sunday!” said a statement from Gov. Dayton. “Vikings fans everywhere are excited to cheer our team to victory in the NFC Championship Game this Sunday. SKOL!”

Governor Dayton has ordered that the Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis to be lit purple from Friday through Sunday night, ahead of Sunday’s game. The Vikings and Eagles kickoff at 5:40 p.m.  Sunday on Fox 9, with a special two-hour edition of Vikings Gameday Live started at 3 p.m. Sunday on Fox 9.

“Our Philadelphia Eagles have overcome adversity and displayed true Pennsylvania grit to put themselves one game away from the Super Bowl,” Gov. Wolf said said in a statement. “While I wanted an all-Pennsylvania Super Bowl, I am proud of the Eagles and look forward to cheering them on this weekend. Go Birds!”

Gov. Wolf also announced the State Capitol Building in Harrisburg will be lit green starting Friday night and through the game Sunday in a show of support for the Eagles.
