Medical examiner: Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in south Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - A pedestrian was struck and killed in south Minneapolis early Wednesday morning, according to a report from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
At 6:56 a.m., Antonio Alcantar-Alcantar, 57, of Minneapolis was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of 26th Street and 14th Avenue South.
A witness and the driver of the vehicle told police Alcantar-Alcantar entered the intersection without stopping or looking for traffic, according to the incident report. The driver estimated she hit him at about 25 to 30 miles per hour.
Alcantar-Alcantar was unconcious and transported to Hennepin Healthcare. He died later that day from multiple blunt force injuries. His death has been ruled an accident.
The incident remains under investigation.
