The Mall of American opened a free ice skating rink that will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities.

Guests can skate at the 12,000 square-foot custom-built rink located at the north entrance of the mall by the star sculpture. The rink will be open during mall hours until Jan. 27.

Skate the Star guests are welcome to use their own skates or rent them for $5, with 100 percent of skate rental proceeds going directly to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities. Funds raised from skate rentals will help the BGCTC provide activities and support to more than 9,000 young people in kindergarten through graduation from high school.
