Macalester football player surprised with national award for community service work

Teammates and coaches surprised Macalester College defensive lineman Ethan Levin to announce he won a national award Thursday.

Levin was one of 22 college football players across all divisions to be named on the 2018 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his commitment to community service.

Levin founded a non-profit called Athletes Against Sexual Violence dedicated to discussing sexual violence prevention on and around campus.

"I grew up here in St. Paul,” said Levin. “I went to a high school right down the road at St. Paul Central and I knew that I had to go give back and give this information to them and now it's gotten to the place where I want to transform the face of football and the face of athletics."
