Inmate apprehended after escaping custody during transport near Winger, Minnesota
POLK COUNTY, Minn. (KMSP) - An inmate escaped police custody while in transport Wednesday, but was apprehended again late Wednesday.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 1:17 p.m., a corrections officer was transporting an inmate when the man overpowered the officer while in Crookston.
The inmate then stole the transport vehicle and fled.
Police located the vehicle near Erskine, Minnesota and a trooper was able to stop the vehicle with a Pursuit Intervention Maneuver. The suspect, Tony Mitchell Krueger, then fled on foot.
Krueger was last seen heading into a farm field at the junction of Polk County Road 2014 and U.S. Hwy. 59 near Winger, Minnesota. He was apprehended "without incident" said Polk County officials.
