Heat Advisory issued from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in parts of Minnesota

A Heat Advisory has been issued for parts of Minnesota Sunday, with heat index values reaching 95-100 this afternoon. It will feel like 97-102 degrees outside.

Additionally, weakening storms are forming a pool of rain-cooled air that's slowly pushing eastward. This could have a slight cooling effect for much of central Minnesota.

Residents are reminded to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave children or pets in the car.

If you work or spend time outside, try to reschedule strenuous activities to early morning
or evening.

Residents should also know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Two firefighters were hospitalized for heat exhaustion Saturday night while fighting a house fire in Shorewood, Minnesota.

The extreme heat is also causing pavement to buckle, so be on the lookout.
