'Hamilton' opens Wednesday at Orpheum, lottery tickets still up for grabs
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - After years of sold out shows in New York, the Tony Award-winning musical “Hamilton” opens Wednesday evening at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis.
If you were not able to snag tickets, it may be time to try again. Tickets for the six-week run sold out soon after they went on sale earlier this summer, but there is another way to get your hands on the hottest ticket in town.
The Hennepin Theatre Trust is offering 40 orchestra seats for every performance. The $10 tickets will be offered in a daily lottery with the winners selected at random two days before each show.
You can register for the drawings on the Hamilton app or on the Hamilton website.
A word of warning about bogus tickets: producers says the show has been a target for scammers so be wary of buying tickets from anyone other than the box office or through Ticketmaster. They say be sure to check online regularly because new seats often become available at the last minute.
