Feel the music: Gophers seek unique edge ahead of spring game

The Gophers are busy getting into the second year swing of things under P.J. Fleck, and spring practices have been going well with the comfort level on high - as well as the music.

In three weeks, fans will get an up-close look at what to expect this season with the spring game kicking off April 14. As we lead up to that game, Fleck and the team are still sorting everything out.

It’s a busy week coming up, with Pro Day in front of NFL scouts Wednesday morning, and scrimmage Thursday. Fleck says he’s looking to add depth to the team.

“We’re slowly finding guys who can make plays… you can see who’s really investing in the plays. But, I’m really proud of the growth of the team itself,” Fleck said.

As the players practice, classical music fills the room. Staff hopes the music therapy will give players a unique edge.

“Music therapy. I never really heard of it until I heard, and then if I like it, we investigate it, research it,” Fleck said. “If we can become one percent better somehow, some way – if one guy is recovering faster and the tune hits him – then we’re doing our job.”
