Fatal pedestrian crash near Northtown Mall in Blaine
BLAINE, Minn. (KMSP) - A pedestrian died after he was struck by a vehicle at an intersection near the Northtown Mall in Blaine Tuesday evening.
At 8:42 p.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of 85th Avenue Northeast and University Avenue.
When they arrived, they found a 51-year-old Minneapolis man in the southbound lane of University Avenue. Responders were unable to revive him and he died from his injuries.
Officials learned a 73-year-old Coon Rapids man was driving the vehicle that hit the man. An on-duty officer witnessed the crash.
Early investigation indicates the vehicle had the right of way at the time of the crash and the pedestrian failed to yield.
The crash remains under investigation.
