Driver backing out of parking spot fatally hits woman outside Faribault hospital

Police in Faribault, Minnesota are investigating after an 83-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car backing out of a hospital parking lot Monday afternoon.

At 1:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to an injured pedestrian in the parking lot of District One Hospital. The caller reported a woman was on the ground and bleeding from her head and face.

The driver of the vehicle, a 73-year-old Faribault woman, and her passenger were not injured.

The incident remains under investigation. When the investigation is complete, all reports will be forwarded to the Rice County Attorney to review and consider criminal charges.
