Dayton declares 'Prince Day' in honor of musician's passing

Governor Mark Dayton and Lt. Governor Tina Smith declared Friday, April 21, 2017 Prince Day in Minnesota in remembrance of the first anniversary of the music legend's passing..

“Prince and his phenomenal talents led an era of music and showcased Minnesota to the world,” said Governor Mark Dayton. “This day, we honor a magnificent artist, celebrate his great legacy, and thank him for always making Minnesota his home.”

In Prince's honor, the I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis will be lit purple on Thursday and Friday nights.

Also in purple, will be the Hennepin County Lowry Avenue Bridge, the IDS Center, U.S. Bank Stadium, and Target Field.
