Crashed Ice event expected to draw 100,000 spectators to St. Paul, Minn.

The Red Bull Crashed Ice event is taking place on Cathedral Hill on Friday and Saturday in St. Paul, Minn. and it is quickly becoming a favorite winter pastime for many Minnesotans.

The mild weather is expected to bring even more people out to watch this year’s event. 100,000 people are expected to crowd the cathedral grounds this weekend.

Parking will be a challenge in the area, especially with the state wrestling tournament taking place just a few blocks away at the Xcel Energy Center. Crashed Ice officials recommend downloading a free Metro Transit ride voucher to get to the course.

The St. Paul chapter of Black Lives Matter had planned a protest for the event on Saturday, but organizers cancelled the protest after several hours of conversation with the mayor, city council members and community leaders on Friday.
