Construction on I-35W between Roseville and Lino Lakes begins Sunday

Crews will soon begin closing lanes and ramps on Interstate 35W between Roseville and the Lino Lakes/Blaine area, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.

It’s all part of a three-year project to build MnPASS Express Lanes, repave I-35W ramps and to repair bridges.

Starting March 31, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., lanes on northbound I-35W between County Road E2 and I-694 will be closed. Drivers will also see closures in both directions of I-35W between the southern Highway 10 interchange and County Road J.

Then, on April 8, long-term lane closures begin on northbound I-35W between Roseville and Mounds View/Arden Hills. Northbound I-35W will be reduced to two lanes between County Road C and Mounds View Boulevard (County Road 10) and reduced to three lanes between Mounds View Boulevard (County Road 10) and the northern Highway 10 interchange.

Crews will also rebuild the I-35W bridges over County Road C and County Road I.

According to MnDOT, in late April or early May, drivers on southbound I-35W between the northern Highway 10 interchange and Sunset Avenue will be shifted to the east side of the interstate. I-35W will remain two lanes in each direction in this area.

In mid- to late-May, drivers on southbound I-35W between County Road C and the northern Highway 10 interchange will also be shifted to the east side of the interstate and lanes will be reduced.

The lane closures for both directions of I-35W will remain in place until November 2019, as crews reconstruct the southbound side of I-35W.
