Boy hit by car near school in Alexandria, Minn.

An 11-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was hit by a car Tuesday near Voyager School in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Police responded to a crash at 2:30 p.m. on Voyager Drive near the school where they found people tending to the boy. He was later transported to the hospital.

According to police, the car and the driver pulled over and talked to officers. After speaking with the driver and several witnesses, officers determined the boy was "attempting to cross the road not in a marked crosswalk."

Authorities are still investigating the crash. The boy's status has not been released.
