Authorities identify woman who died in Alexandria house fire

Alexandria police have identified the 19-year-old woman who died in a Monday morning house fire in Alexandria, Minn.

Crews responded around 5:27 a.m. on Monday to a house fire in the 400 block of Fillmore in Alexandria. Many of the residents left the building in time or were woken up by police pounding on their door. However, one person was still unaccounted for. 

Police say Shandiin Goodbird of Alexandria died in the fire. A preliminary autopsy report showed signs of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide toxicity. A full toxicology report is still pending.

The fire is under investigation by Alexandria police and the State Fire Marshall.
