2 injured, horse killed after car crash in Dodge County, Minn.

Two people were injured after a car collided with a horse early Sunday morning in Dodge County, Minnesota. The horse was killed in the crash.

According to the sheriff's office, just after midnight, authorities received a call reporting a car versus horse crash on County Road 13 just south of County Road 4 in rural Hayfield, Minn.

When deputies arrived they found that a car struck the horse on the road, causing the horse to go through the windshield, injuring both occupants.

The driver and passenger have been identified as a man and a woman from Kenyon, Minn. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

The horse, a bay mare, was killed in the crash. The owner was found and notified later Sunday morning.
