1 injured in overnight shooting in uptown Minneapolis, suspect in custody

One man was injured after a shooting early Saturday morning in uptown Minneapolis.

According to police, around 1:35 a.m., officers were in the area of Lagoon and Humboldt Avenue South when they heard the sound of shots fired. Officers ran toward the area and witnesses pointed out the vehicle they said the shooter was in.

Officers approached the vehicle and the suspect fled. They chased the suspect until he crashed in St. Louis Park.

Police located a gun and took the man into custody. Contrary to some false reports, the gun was not a shotgun.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and chest.
