1 dead after shooting at St. Paul convenience store

One person is dead after a shooting Monday night in St. Paul, Minnesota. 

At 7:30 p.m., officers responded to shooting at a convenience store on the 600 block of Payne Avenue, according to police. 

When they arrived, officers found a woman inside suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medics were called to the scene, and she pronounced dead shortly after.

Police say they have identified and interviewed the person who shot and killed the woman. Investigators are also interviewing people who were in the store at the time of the shooting, and the department’s Forensic Services Unit is currently processing the scene for evidence.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will work to positively identify the woman and determine an exact cause of death.

This is the first homicide in St. Paul this year.
