Minnesota weather: Warmer but fairly cloudy with pocket snowflakes on Friday

Friday will be mostly cloudy in the Twin Cities metro, with scattered snowflakes and highs reaching the mid-20s.

What to expect:

A warming trend begins Friday, bringing temperatures closer to seasonal norms before rising above average early next week.

After a chilly morning with subzero wind chills, temperatures will warm into the mid and upper 20s for central, southern and western Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro daytime high is 24 degrees. 

The day will be mostly cloudy with pocket snow flurries in the metro, and up to an inch of snow possible in northern regions. Southerly winds at 10-15 mph will add a light breeze.

Overnight, temperatures will hold steady in the 20s under lingering cloud cover.

What's next:

A cold front moves in on Saturday, causing temperatures to fall into the teens by the afternoon. Gusty winds will create wind chills in the single digits. 

Sunday will be calmer and sunnier, with temperatures in the upper 20s for the Twin Cities metro. The warming trend continues on Monday, with highs reaching the upper 30s. Temperatures will then cool slightly to the lower 30s and upper 20s through midweek.
