What's new in fall fashion

Menswear inspired fashion, boho styles, and new spins on plaid—those are among the looks to put on your shopping list this fall. Mpls.St.Paul Magazine style editor Allison Kaplan gave us an overview of some of the biggest trends of the season. The looks will be on the runway this Saturday at the New & Now Fashion & Beauty Event, hosted by Allison, at the Herberger's Rosedale store.

Key trends

Plaid, Please: From preppy to grunge, the power of plaid is inescapable. This season, it's as relevant as ever, on dresses, outerwear, accessories, and more.

Boy Meets Girl/Blouse Party: Menswear inspiration can be seen in women's fashion this season—especially tailored pieces for the office. Then give it a feminine touch with a pretty blouse. The key details include lace, pleating, and bows.

Vintage Vibe: Add some polis to that laid back hippie vibe this season. Think brocade, embroidery, faux shelling or fur for a layered look. Finish it off with a suede stacked bootie and cross body bag.
