Juicy J stuffed turkey burger

Chef Jen from the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program cooked for us a healthy Juicy J Stuffed Turkey Burger. The program emphasizes how combining nutrition, physical activity and resiliency can have a powerful effect on improving health. 

INGREDIENTS:

8 oz. Lean ground turkey breast

¼ teaspoon Kosher salt

½ teaspoon Cumin

½ teaspoon Paprika

½ teaspoon Chili powder

¼ teaspoon Garlic powder

¼ teaspoon Onion powder

1 whole Roasted poblano pepper, peeled, and chopped

2 ounces Sharp cheddar cheese

2 ounces 1/3 less fat cream cheese

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat grill or cast iron skillet with grids. Place ground turkey breast in bowl, and mix in salt, cumin, paprika, chili powder, garlic and onion powder. Patty out 4 similar size patties, be sure to keep fairly thin. Place ½ of the roasted poblano on two of the patties, followed by a flat 1 ounce piece of sharp cheddar cheese, and cream cheese. Place the other two patties on each patty and seal the seams to avoid losing the insides. Place on hot grill or cast iron skillet and grill for a total of about 6 minutes on each side creating the cross hatch. Be sure the internal temperature is 165 degrees
