Slowing air travel may be affecting your forecast

NWS: Saturday storm produced EF-1, EF-0 tornadoes in Wisconsin, Iowa

A strong storm that moved through the central United States Saturday produced three tornadoes in Wisconsin and Iowa, according to the National Weather Service.

Minnesotans across the state woke up to some spring snowfall, ranging from just a dusting in some areas to nearly 5 inches in northern parts of the state.

Heavy rain is likely in much of central and southern Minnesota Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. Many spots may wind up with 1 to 2 inches of rain by the time the storm winds down early Sunday morning.

Well, it’s that time of year again. The sure sign that we’ve turned the corner from winter’s wrath and are headed for the much warmer conditions of the spring and summer. It’s ice out season. Over the last decade or so, it’s really become the unofficial marker to spring, much like Memorial Day is the unofficial start to summer. Our infatuation with it is a bit puzzling, but somehow it’s a big deal every year.
