Monday is fairly quiet with passing clouds and a high of 68 degrees for the Twin Cities metro area. On Tuesday, widespread rain is likely with heavier showers expected in the afternoon and evening.

Temperatures are expected to warm up nicely Sunday afternoon with upper 60s and lower 70s under a sun-filled sky.

Temperatures approached records Saturday as highs peaked in the mid to upper 80s over southern Minnesota. Winds will switch to the northwest on Sunday and won?t be as gusty as Saturday. Temperatures peak in the 70s Sunday and Monday before thunderstorms return Tuesday. Watch for a big cooldown later next week.

Sustained winds from the south are expected for this afternoon, likely bringing warm temperatures with them. Some areas may come close to 80? and possibly even higher. Winds are forecasted to change directions Sunday, likely coming from the northwest with less intensity. Temperatures are projected to be in the lower 70s by Sunday afternoon.

Abundant sunshine and warm temperatures will be the theme for the next few days, as temps will warm into the 70s Saturday through Monday. Showers and thunderstorms return by Tuesday to feed newly thawed lawns and trees throughout the Twin Cities.

Wind and sunshine is projected for most of Friday before warmer temperatures are expected for the weekend.

It's another sunny and seasonable day in the Twin Cities metro on Friday before summer-like temperatures arrive for the weekend. Friday is breezy with wind speeds at 10-20 mph from the northwest, but there's an abundance of sunshine and a high of 62 degrees. For the weekend, temperatures heat up into the mid and upper 70s.

Temperatures take a slight dip Thursday for a high of 59 degrees in the Twin Cities metro area. A few scattered showers are possible, but don't be alarmed if you hear tornado sirens, as two tests are running on Thursday as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.

There was plenty of sunshine and summer-like weather for the first part of Wednesday, but slightly cooler temperatures are projected for the rest of the evening. Strong winds from the northwest are expected to kick up some spotty showers and possibly small thunderstorms overnight and into Thursday. Ian Leonard has the FOX 9 full forecast.
