Arboretum all aglow for the holidays
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is getting into the holiday spirit. On Thursday night, they will light up their 25-foot poinsettia holiday tree and unveil their winter lights walking tour. The botanical-themed display is about a half-mile long and includes 14 vignettes. FOX 9?s Shayne Wells has a preview of the event. Winter Lights runs Nov. 22-Jan. 5, 5-9 p.m. (plus Dec. 23, daily Dec. 26-Jan. 5)

One of the very first Christmas tree farms in the metro is still going strong almost 70 years later. Hansen Tree Farm in Anoka opens for the season on Saturday, November 23rd. And though it's been a family operation since 1952, they've had to evolve over the years.

Last year's big winner was the Second Harvest Heartland. The food bank turns this event into more than just a fundraiser. For the 3rd year in a row they organized a 24-hour ?Pack to the Max? event.

The magical world of the "Polar Express" has come to life at Twin City Model Railroad Museum in St. Paul. ?Night Trains? brings a winter wonderland to the make-believe town of Matlin. It?s an enchanting experience for kids and adults. The exhibit opened on November 2nd and runs every Saturday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 through the last Saturday in February.

Tucked away in Lindstrom is a nearly 80-acre farm that's home to more than a dozen animals who are getting a second chance at life, after being rescued from bad situations. They get vet care and will live the rest of their lives roaming the pastures of Farmaste Animal Sanctuary. Over the past twelve months, nine of their residents required emergency veterinary care at the University of Minnesota. Because of those visits, their emergency vet fund is low. As the temperatures drop and the kids need to burn some energy, there?s a new indoor amusement park to try out. Urban Air Adventure Park in Plymouth features the nation?s first Power Up Go-Karts which speeds of up to 20 mph, an indoor Sky Rider, a climbing wall, ropes course, and trampolines.

The track is open for amateur and professional riders four days a week. Bikes will be provided, but patrons need to bring their own helmets.
